FAQs

Who oversees your work?

We are overseen by the eldership of the Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ congregation in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. We have been working with them full-time in various capacities since 2004.

How are you funded?

The Palm Beach Lakes congregation pays for our salary. We raise funds from congregations and individuals through monthly or one-time donations for our working fund. The working fund covers the costs of our work and the expenses of living on the road.

What is the cost for a congregation to have you work with them?

It doesn’t cost anything. The only thing we ask is if the congregation could pay for us to park our RV or have hookups at the building. If that is not possible, we have donors who would help.

How do you decide where to work?

We hear about congregations through people who know about our work. We then discuss the possibilities with our overseeing elders to see if it is a good fit for us based on the needs of the requesting congregation. The elders have the final say on where we go.

How long do you stay in an area?

It depends on the needs of the congregation. Generally, a minimum of three months. We can stay up to a year, but only after we have previously worked with that congregation.

We are interested. What do we do next?

Reach out to me (561-319-1418, blackmer.josh@gmail.com) to set up a time to talk. We have a questionnaire to fill out to get to know about the congregation. We talk with our elders about the possibility. We then get back in touch with you.

What do you do when you work with these congregations?

There is always a lot of work that can be done. We preach, teach, evangelize, conduct personal studies, community outreach, bring in mission teams, provide leadership training, gospel meetings, and seminars. We also speak Spanish if that is needed in the area. We are open to other ideas
