July Report

Hello every one! We want to say thank you to all of our supporters and so many that have been praying for this work. Below you will find the July report. As am writing this we are making preparations to be in our next long term location.

Travel to Eustis, Florida

As you can see from the image below this was a long trek back to Florida. The distance between each flag was a days travel.

We pulled into the church parking lot Sunday morning prepared but not really ready to leave. After services we said our goodbyes and were on the road. This was such a great beginning to this work. We felt like we were leaving family.

Our trip took us through Memphis, TN where we got to stop and see our son Josiah. He has been one of the youth interns at the Bartlett Woods church of Christ.

Forever Camp @ Central Florida Bible Camp

Forever Camp is the week that we coordinate with Cam and Hollie Crotts at Central Florida Bible Camp in Eustis, FL. Our theme this year was Forever Changed. Our evening chapel lessons were Forever Changed By Friendship, Love, Grace, Sacrifice, and The Story. We keep the Bible in Bible camp with two chapels a day, one Bible class for the junior campers, two Bible classes for the senior campers, and cabin devotionals.

We had 115 campers this year.

The camp has a lot of fun activities for the campers and staff. This is the camp zipline that goes across Lake Tuttle.

We have them compete with airsoft rifles and axe throwing. There is a lot of adult supervision.

They enjoy the laser tag on Monday night and the giant water slide on Friday afternoon. You can check out more about our week at Forever Camp and Central Florida Bible Camp on Facebook. We are always looking for staff and campers. Check out the camp website HERE.

Upward Bound Adventure Camp

After our week of Forever Camp we have another half week session called Upward Bound Adventure Camp. This session is directed by Bill Weaver and codirected by Jay Watson and myself. It is for campers 13 to 18 and takes a biblical approach to team dynamics, problem solving, and working as a family. The campers take a closer look at themselves and how they handle working through challenges as a group. The campers are divided into family groups. Bill comes up with different activities that challenge each family unit to work together, grow closer to each other, and grow closer to God. There is an element of service as part of this week. Each group selects a project to help improve the camp in some way. This group decided to work on the stairs at the retreat center.

Here is a group harnessed to a maze of rope working together to get through.

I get to run the leap of faith high ropes event. They are harnessed and climb a forty foot telephone pole and leap towards the red ball. What you can’t see is the reducer hitch pole and all of us on belay, we’ve got him.
