It has been a joy being here in Cherokee in October. The weather is cooling off and the leaves are making their changes to bring color to the valley. God’s creation is a wonder.
A Change of Seasons
It has been interesting being here in Cherokee during these past three months. We were here to see the end of the Summer crowd and then see them leave. We had a lull of visitors as school started and people went back to their normal routines. Now the leaf peepers have come in. The locals say that it hasn’t been as crowded as in past years. I am sure that has to do with the recent storms and some roads still being closed.
This month we had a work day at the building. Part of the effort was cleaning up around the parsonage house. They are in the process of remodeling it in preparation for hiring a full time preacher.
We also put in a concrete step to the back door of the building. This area floods frequently and the water soaks into the hall, office, and class rooms. The hope is that this will keep that from happening in the future.
Part of the work in this area is promoting the relationships of the congregations in the area. We hosted the area wide singing this month. I also went to the Candler congregation’s gospel meeting. If you are in the area that is a good congregation. The building is an old school house that was built in the early 1900’s before there was electricity in the valley. It has been nice meeting other brethren in the area.
We will be leaving here on November 2nd and going to Paducah, KY to start our travels visiting supporters. We will be in Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, and Florida.
Looking Forward
Since we will be on the road for the months of November and December we will not publish a report until the end of the year as these last two months will be very similar in their content. Please pray for safe travels.
