The Work In Littleton and LancasterWow, so much more than we thought! We are working with two congregations, and there are currently six preachers here. Even still, there is so much to do. Let me explain about the work. Wayne and Louise “Weezy” Burger moved to Littleton to start the Lord’s church at the behest of the elders at the Lakes Region church of Christ in Tilton, NH. At the time, the Northern Valley congregation in Lancaster, NH (the building pictured above) was down to just two men. They were considering closing their doors. However, there was renewed interest from the community, and the church began to grow. Now, the Lancaster and Littleton congregations have been working closely together for two years. Lancaster worships in the morning and is attended by the members from Littleton. The Littleton congregation worships in the afternoon at the Senior center (sign pictured below) and is attended by members from Lancaster. Why so many preachers? Wayne has been a teacher at the Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver for thirty years. He and his wife have worked in many places around the states and have established several congregations. The last of which was the Conifer congregation near Denver. Part of the impetus for moving out here was Weezy’s health. Living at such high altitudes in the Denver area necessitated her being on oxygen. That, combined with the request from the Titlton congregation, made this area a good fit to start another congregation. Since they moved here, they have been joined by two Bear Valley graduates, and another was already living in the area. Currently, one other Bear Valley grad and I are working with them temporarily. The two congregations run from 10 to 15 people on Sunday, with fewer for the midweek studies. As the song goes, “There is work to do, there’s work on every hand.”
